Why did Colin Cowherd leave ESPN?
Cowherd was pulled from the air by ESPN in 2015 after making on-air remarks implying Dominican players in Major League Baseball are not smart.
“It’s baseball,” Cowherd said on his national radio show “The Herd with Colin Cowherd”. “You don’t think a general manager can manage? Like it’s impossible? The game is too complex? I’ve never bought into that, ‘Baseball’s just too complex.’ Really? A third of the sport is from the Dominican Republic.’’
He went on to say the Dominican Republic is not known for its world-class academics and that many of its players come from underprivileged backgrounds.
Cowherd issued an apology on X, formerly Twitter, the next day.
