Renowned sports anchor Mayanti Langer was trolled recently over her choice of outfit during the India vs New Zealand semi-final at the ICC World Cup 2023. After she appeared in a skirt with a blazer, standing alongside Sunil Gavaskar, social media users found it informal and not suited for the occasion, making comparisons to Gavaskar’s formal attire.
Now, Langer has replied to the trolls, satirically saying “we can afford a full suit” for the final match.
“So moved by your genuine concern regarding budgets. Concerns that have me tagged in innumerable posts, my family and friends being inundated by images, some altered perhaps to play down the atrocity of a Blazer dress. Fear not, we can afford a full suit for the Final,” she wrote on X, sharing a picture of her in a black full suit.
Several social media users commented on Langer’s outfit online, and multiple edited versions of the attire were posted on social media sites.
Langer, who began her broadcasting career in 2007, quickly rose through the ranks and became one of the most popular cricket broadcasters in India. She has covered several major cricket events, including the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Cricket World Cup, and the ICC Cricket World Twenty20.
Langer is married to Indian cricketer Stuart Binny.
The India vs Australia Cricket World Cup final 2023 is scheduled to take place on Wednesday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
