How Much Money the NFL Player Makes

You don’t have to be a fan of Tom Brady to admit he is one of the most highly coveted athletes in the world. The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, who began his NFL career with the New England Patriots in 2000, is often referred to as the GOAT — greatest of all time — and let’s just say, his net worth definitely follows suit. Keep scrolling to find out his net worth, learn how he makes money and more.

What Is Tom Brady’s Net Worth?

Tom is worth an estimated $250 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Did Tim Tom Brady Retire From Football?

While the star player enjoyed a winning streak throughout his successful career, Tom announced his official retirement from the NFL on February 1, 2022. “This is very difficult for me to write, but here it goes: I am not going to make that competitive commitment anymore. I have loved my NFL career, and now it is time for me to focus my time and energy on other things that require my attention,” he wrote in a lengthy statement via Instagram.

About a month after announcing his retirement, Tom shocked fans everywhere by revealing he’d be returning to the NFL for a 23rd season. “These past two months I have realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands. That time will come. But it’s not now,” he wrote via Instagram on March 13, 2022. “I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. Without them, none of this is possible. I’m coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa. We have unfinished business.”

However, Tom revealed that he officially retired on February 1, 2023. “I’m retiring for good. I know the process was a pretty big deal last time,” he told his fans in a video via Instagram. “So, when I woke up this morning, I figured I’d just press record and let you guys know first so. I won’t be long-winded. You only get one super emotional retirement essay and I used mine up last year.”

“I really thank you guys so much to everyone single one of you for supporting me. My family, my friends, my teammates, my competitors,” Tom continued. “I can go on forever. There’s too many. Thank you guys for allowing me to live my absolute dream.

He concluded, “I wouldn’t change a thing.”

How Much Money Did Tom Brady Make From His Football Career?

In March 2020 Tom announced his departure from the Patriots after 20 years. Later that month, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the athlete’s contract with the Buccaneers was as follows: “2 years, $50 million deal, all guaranteed, that also includes another $9 million in incentives — $4.5 million in incentives per year. The contract also prohibits tags and trades.”

Did Tom Brady Make Money From Winning Super Bowls?

To date, the California native has played in 10 Super Bowl games. Out of those, he has seven wins under his belt. According to a 2019 CNBC report, winners of the Super Bowl earn $118,000. As for the losing team, each player gets $59,000.

How Else Does Tom Brady Make Money?

Unlike other professional athletes, Tom, who was married to supermodel Gisele Bündchen from 2009 until 2022, has become a bona fide A-list celebrity. Between his talent on the field and popularity off the field, brands can’t help but want to work with him.

Over the years, Tom has had contracts with brands including Under Armor, Molecule Mattresses, Upper Deck and IWC watches. Many of his endorsements have lasted for years.

“Tom Brady represents a lot of what Under Armour is all about,” founder and CEO Kevin Plank said in a 2010 statement announcing the partnership. “He’s humble and hungry and continues to be focused on winning and getting better every single day.”

Tom has also worked with UGG Australia, Tag Heuer and Aston Martin in the past. Moreover, he cofounded his own brand, TB12, consisting of merchandise, nutrition and workout programs and so much more. In 2017, Tom wrote The TB12 Method: How to Achieve a Lifetime of Sustained Peak Performance.

In March 2023, Tom became part-owner in the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces.

“I got really special news to share today,” he announced via Instagram on March 24. “I’m excited to announce I’m gonna become part of the Las Vegas Aces organization. It was a matter of time before I was back in the building with some of the greatest athletes in the world.”

Two months later, news broke that Tom was in the final steps to become a minority owner of the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders.

“We’re excited for Tom to join the Raiders,” Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis told ESPN on May 22, 2023, noting they were pending approval from the NFL. “It’s exciting because he will be just the third player in the history of the National Football League to become an owner.”

While the father of three, who shares children Benjamin and Vivian with Gisele and son John with ex Bridget Moynahan, is undoubtedly wealthy, he certainly isn’t the breadwinner in his family. In fact, Gisele has an estimated net worth of $400 million.

When Did Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen Divorce?

Following months of speculation that the pair had called it quits, Tom and Gisele confirmed they finalized their divorce on October 28, 2022, after 13 years of marriage.

“In recent days, my wife and I finalized our divorce from one another after 13 years of marriage,” Tom wrote via his Instagram Stories. “We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. … We arrive at this decision to end our marriage after much consideration. Doing so is, of course, painful and difficult like it is for many people who go through the same thing every day around the world.”

Gisele also shared the news via her own Instagram Stories. “We arrived at this decision to end our marriage after much consideration. Doing so is, of course, painful and difficult, like it is for many people who go through the same thing every day around the world,” she said. “However we wish only the best for each other as we pursue whatever new chapters in our lives that are yet to be written.”
