Aussie football fans say conditions at FIFA World Cup in Qatar are so bad they want to LEAVE EARLY

Fed-up Australian fans are considering returning home even though the Socceroos still have two matches left to play in the FIFA World Cup as accommodation issues, long lines and abusive supporters become too much.

There have been many reports of serious issues at the fan villages created for the multitude of football fans who have descended on Qatar for the World Cup.

While plenty of Australians are having the times of their lives as they enjoy the Qatari hospitality on offer, the experience has been a nightmare for others.

Qatar World Cup officials are offering full refunds and new accommodation for fans who have been left waiting through the night for their rooms to be made ready, only to experience leaking bathrooms, sewage and no hot water.

There have been reports of frustrating problems at the Free Zone Fan Village, Barwa Barahat Al Janoub Housing Unit, Fan Village Cabins Zafaran and Saffron Fan Village.

‘Anyone else in the fan villages having a horrible experience? Leakage in the bathroom causing flooding, no hot water, customer service have been overrun with people’s complaints,’ one Aussie fan posted.

‘Honestly don’t know what to do. We’re considering selling our tickets and leaving early but I think our chances for a refund on the accommodation are low.’

Another fan said their experience was even worse. 

‘We are in the Baraw village and our apartment has been flooded with sewage 2 days in a row. That said, they reckon they have now fixed it and there are a team of cleaners here but they also said that yesterday,’ they posted.

‘We gave up and found accommodation elsewhere. If u need a number of a guy I can give it to u. He is a property manager and rents furnished apartments out by the month but just stay how long u need. Its the same price.’

Australian fans aren’t the only ones who have had enough.

International fans have also vented online, saying there were not enough buses, air-conditioning units were failing and accommodation booked and paid for was not being provided.  

‘The fan village at #Zafaran is on par of being a refugee camp. The #SupremeCommittee have not thought this through, It puts an even tarnished view of why @FIFAWorldCup is being host by Qatar,’ one fan posted.

‘Half a population of a country staying for a month was never going to be achieved.’

Many supporters have been left unimpressed with the management of the fan villages, where they face delays to get into their accommodation – if it’s ready at all

Another posted in the early hours of the morning to reveal they were still unable to access their room, along with hundreds of others – and this was only in recent days, not in the lead-up to the tournament.

‘Management delegation in the village of Saffron fans. Hundreds of fans who have reservations have not received their rooms under the pretext that there are no available rooms and that there are no twin rooms?’ they posted.

‘And the situation is as it is today, Morocco, without a solution. Chaos after chaos and the staff is very bad.’
