The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has forfeited Mapua University’s 66-55 win over San Beda University in the league’s Season 98 men’s basketball opening day last September 10.
NCAA commissioner Tonichi Pujante made the decision on Saturday after its investigation found out that the Cardinals fielded an ineligible player in Gab Gamboa.
Pujante banned Gamboa from playing in the NCAA for life.
Gamboa is said to be enrolled both at St. Clare College of Caloocan and Mapua, which is not allowed in the NCAA.
With this development, Mapua’s 1-5 win-loss card will now be 0-6, deadlast in the standings, while San Beda’s 3-2 slate will now be 4-1, tied with Lyceum at the second spot.
